Desi Women’s Wellness Collective: A Safe Space for Indian Women to Heal, Connect, and Thrive
Join a community that understands your unique journey as a first-generation Indian woman in America. Together, we will explore mental health, cultural identity, and personal growth through workshops, events, and therapy groups.
Why We Created the Desi Women’s Wellness Collective?
As first-generation Indian women in America, we often find ourselves balancing two worlds—our rich cultural heritage and the expectations of modern American life. While this dual identity offers many strengths, it also comes with challenges that are unique to our experiences. The Desi Women’s Wellness Collective was created to offer Indian women a culturally sensitive space to talk about these challenges, prioritize their mental health, and find support in one another
Common Struggles of First-Generation Desi Women in America
List of Challenges:
- Cultural Identity & Belonging: Navigating the complex feelings of growing up between two cultures, often feeling “not Indian enough” or “not American enough.”
- Family Expectations & Pressures: Managing parental expectations around education, marriage, and career while pursuing your own dreams.
- Gender Roles & Empowerment: Balancing traditional gender roles with a desire for independence and self-empowerment.
- Mental Health Stigma: Overcoming the stigma surrounding mental health and therapy within the Indian community.
- Immigration Stress: Feeling isolated or misunderstood, especially when family and community are thousands of miles away.
Our Mission
The mission of the Desi Women’s Wellness Collective is to empower Indian women to prioritize their mental health and well-being. We aim to create a culturally supportive environment where women can come together to explore their unique experiences and challenges, free from judgment and stigma. By addressing mental health through a culturally sensitive lens, we strive to break the silence around topics that are often taboo in our communities and to help Indian women feel seen, heard, and supported on their journey to emotional and mental wellness.

Meet the Founder
Meet Ms. Sonia Singh, The Happy Therapist™, Founder of the Desi Women’s Wellness Collective
Hi, I’m Ms. Sonia Singh, a licensed psychotherapist and first-generation Indian-American woman. I started the Desi Women’s Wellness Collective because I know firsthand how challenging it can be to balance cultural expectations with personal growth. As a therapist, I’ve seen how important it is to provide culturally sensitive mental health support, and I’m passionate about helping other Indian women on their journey to mental and emotional well-being. Together, we can heal, grow, and thrive in both our cultures.
