The Cannabis Health Program at COIT began practicing since 2017 under The Jake Honig Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act to provide specialized mental health treatment services that support the use of medical marijuana as a safe, naturopathic medication alternative for those individuals who may be coping with eligible MMP mental health conditions.

We serve adults, mature aged adults, teenagers and certain adolescents who cope with eligible mental health symptoms, mainly Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Anxiety related conditions, in becoming eligible for their States Medical Marijuana Program. Since 2017, we have helped 1,000’s of clients throughout the States of NJ, NY, PA and Delaware gain access to medical marijuana as an alternative treatment medication. All of our clients have different reasons why they need our help. We pride ourselves in supporting our clients transition to healing themselves with legal medical cannabis medications.

Through our MMP Brief Intervention Program, individuals who cope with mental health challenges are assessed, counseled and recommended for alternative cannabis medications, and then become certified as Medical Marijuana patient in their State Medical Marijuana Program. They are provided personalized and specialized cannabis education that helps minimize any potential risk or harm, so that they can constructively and safely use their medical marijuana as a part of their overall wellness and treatment regimdn.

What To Expect?

During The Cannabis Health Program at COIT’s Medical Marijuana Program(MMP) Brief Intervention, you will receive a comprehensive clinical mental health and substance abuse evaluation, specialized to assess your eligible mental health symptoms and be provided cannabis psycho-education and counseling session(s), specific to your individual needs.

During this intervention you will:

  1. Complete a series of psychometric testing- These are surveys and questionaires your mental health symptoms.
  2. Have a one on one comprehensive clinical evaluation with a clinical therapist.
  3. Have a brief intervention medical cannabis counseling and treatment session.
  4. Receive a recommendation and referral to get certified and gain entry into the State Medical Marijuana(MMP) program to stabilize your eligible mental health condition.

During a Medical Cannabis and Counseling Session:

  • You will understand the different types of medical marijuana available to treat your condition
  • You will learn about the effects of medical marijuana with different strains, strain science and the appropriate strains to use to treat your specific condition
  • You will learn about the different consumption methods available to you and be provided recommendations to enhance safe use
  • You will  be educated on tools to help monitor and assess the effects and effectiveness of your medical marijuana
  • You will receive a medical marijuana wellness regimen that supports reducing any harm, risks or saftey concerns.

Medical Marijuana Program Card Brief Intervention (Includes Specialized Mental Health Evaluation, Medical Cannabis Counseling and Treatment Session and Referral for State Medical Marijuana Program Card): $225 (Paid at the time of service)

*Please Note: This fee does not include the medical marijuana doctors fee $180 to complete the certification or the $100-$20 fee required by the State Medical Marijuana Program. Private and Government health insurance plans currently do not cover any services related to the State Medical Marijuana Program. This includes assessments, certifications, re-certifications and medication(medical marijuana) and related services. We do provide assistance with getting reimbursement through your health plans out of network benefits for outpatient mental health services, if eligible.

After completing the Medical Marijuana Program Card Specialized Mental Health Evaluation, you will be eligible to use medical marijuana as an alternative treatment method for your PTSD or Anxiety related condition. You will need to follow through and complete the certification and final application online to be legally able to utilize medical marijuana and visit any of the State’s Medical Marijuana Dispensaries.

**Please Read: After you complete your evaluation, you will be need to schedule your 5-10 minute certification session with our MMP-Doctor so that you can be added to your States Medical Marijuana Program Registry. The doctor has a certification fee of $200. Once certified, you will receive a Patient Reference Number to apply for your State Medical Marijuana Program Card. The State you live in charges a $100-$20 application fee to process your application and to print + mail your Medical Marijuana Program Card to you within 2-3 weeks.

Total Cost of Services to Becoming a Certified Medical Marijuana Patient

  1. The Cannabis Health Program at COIT BrieF Medical Marijuana Intervention: $225 (Paid to The Cannabis Health Program at COIT at the time of the brief intervention.” This is a ONE TIME FEE.
  2. Medical Marijuana Doctor Certification Fee; $100-$200  depending on the State of application. (Paid directly to the certifying MMP doctor) Certification is required bi-yearly to maintain state eligibility.
  3. State Medical Marijuana Program Application Fee: $20-$100 (Paid directly to the State Program once your application is approved.)

Medical marijuana is a mind altering substance and isn’t highly recommended by clinical professionals due to the psycho-active effects of medical marijuana on the developing brain. However, in some circumstances, the benefits of medical cannabis can provide remedy to those who cannot find relief otherwise and outweigh the potential risks.

For those individuals under the age of 21 with developing brains, we offer our brief intervention program in conjunction with our Medical Marijuana Transitions Counseling program.
